Earning and Redeeming Points
You can earn Membership Rewards by holding an affiliated American Express card. By holding a card, you automatically enroll in the program. Earn points with purchases to redeem for rewards such as travel, gift cards, or statement credits.
How to Earn Points
- Earn 15,000 points spending $3,000 in 3 months.
- Get 2x points on purchases.
- Transfer points to airline and hotel partners like Delta, Virgin Atlantic, and ANA.
How to Redeem Points
To redeem points for a flight, you need at least 5,000 rewards points. The number of points can vary per selections. You can only use the program once per transaction.
There are two ways to redeem Membership Rewards points:
- Through the travel program
- By transferring points to partner airlines and hotels
How to Claim or Cash Out Points
In "Rewards & Benefits," you’ll find redemption options, or you can call to redeem points. For eligible and enrolled cardholders, all primary members can earn and use points, while additional members can earn points unless the primary member allows usage.
Value of Points
When redeemed toward flights, points are generally valued around one cent each. American Express offers a fixed 0.7 cent per point redemption rate and the ability to transfer points to over 20 travel partners through different loyalty programs.
