Golf Terms and Meanings
Sometimes, in the blue circle on the image above, you will see the letter “F” instead of a number like 65 or 1-18. This simply means “Finished” and is another way of saying that player has completed their round for the day.
What do E and F mean in golf? In golf, ‘E’ stands for even par. ‘F’ means finished.
Your score in golf is called your handicap. The handicap reflects your ability. It tells others what they need to do to play with you. A 15 handicap means average ability.
Each golf hole is a par 3, 4 or 5. Par is based on hole length. If you take the par number of strokes, you shot par. One more is a bogey.

The maximum handicap index is 54.0 for all players.
E stands for even par. That means not below or above the par line. The golfer tries to get far under par. If the course is hard, even par is good.
If a player’s score shows E and they finished, they shot an even par round. For a par 72 course, they scored 72. Scores in the high 60s are under par. Scores above 72 have a plus sign. That indicates how far above par they are.
