Does Boris Said Own K1 Speed? The Founding of K1 Speed

Boris Said co-founded K1 Speed in 2003 with Susan Danglard, who had experience in the fashion industry. Their goal was bringing real outdoor racing experience indoors. They built tracks with real asphalt surfaces and imported high-quality karts. A timing system tracks every lap down to the hundredth of a second and records lap times in a database with over 500,000 other racers. This scoring system shows each racer’s standing.

K1 Speed has unique tracks at each location. Their facilities have entertainment areas with sitting spaces, pool tables, and snack bars. Recently they opened their newest track in Atlanta. They now have locations in California, Washington, Florida, Illinois, Texas, New York, Colorado, and Arizona.

Boris Said has over 30 years of racing experience. His father, Bob Said, was an Olympic bobsledder and Formula One driver. Boris began by racing motorcycles, then sports cars. He won the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring. Boris also raced in NASCAR and the X Games. He owns BMW and Volkswagen dealerships in California. At age 23, Nicolas Hammann asked Said for advice before his first NASCAR race. Boris told him, "Run all the laps. Be there at the end, then be aggressive."
