What are the restrictions of a provisional driver’s license in California?
A California provisional driver license is issued after the learner’s permit and before a regular license. Most provisional licenses are issued between 16 and 18 years of age. You can drive alone with a provisional license but there are restrictions, including specific times you can drive and who is allowed as a passenger.

You can own a car with a provisional licence. You can start taking driving lessons at 17 in your own car. However, you’ll need a supervisor if driving beyond lessons.

Apply for your provisional licence online via GOV.UK. You’ll need to provide information like your date of birth and pay a £34 fee. Alternatively, apply by post from certain post offices. You’ll still need to provide the same information and fee.
