Pubs and restaurants must now close at 10pm – but can you still get a takeaway, Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats after that time? On the government’s website, it outlines that any venue that serves food and drink must cease business between 10pm and 5am. While this rule also includes takeaway food and drink, there is an exception for delivery services – the distinction being that the product is brought to the customer at home rather than people going somewhere to collect it.
New Regulations in Wales
Pubs, cafes and restaurants in Wales will have to shut at 22:00 every night under new measures to control the rising rate of coronavirus. The rules, which came into force at 10pm this evening, follow a decision by the UK government to do the same in England.
Exceptions from Curfew
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has since clarified that the curfew will not apply at cinemas and theatres where performances may run past the 10pm deadline. The hospitality curfew comes into force from Thursday in England – although rules vary in local lockdown areas such as Bolton, where hospitality businesses have been closed altogether and can only operate a takeaway service.

Now the government has published additional guidance for businesses and customers – including rules on face masks, closing times and room service. The rules kick-in at 6pm this evening.

Curfew act states person under 17 cannot be public place midnight-6am Saturday and Sunday, 11pm-6am Sunday-Thursday. Local governments can move curfew up two hours. Ages 15-17 break curfew if in public area after set times: 1am-5am Friday and Saturday; 11pm-6am Sunday-Thursday.
