Indian Railways Classes
The most luxurious and expensive class of Indian Railways, with fares almost at par with airfares, is the AC first class. There are eight cabins (including two coupes) in full AC first class coach and three cabins (including one coupe) in the half AC first class coach.
Compartments have lockable doors, carpet and either two or four beds, stacked vertically in tiers. The beds are wider than other classes. The curtains used in these coaches are fire-proof and blankets are covered and clean.
Understanding Train Classes
What is A1 and A2 in train? A1 and A2 are first-class air-conditioned coaches which are considered to be the most luxurious coaches, providing facilities like personal cabins, bedrolls, charging points, reading lights, etc.
Understanding the different classes and compartments on Indian trains is essential for a comfortable journey. Coach class codes such as A1 for AC 2 tier with all 2AC berths and B1 meaning AC 3 tier coach no 1 are used by Indian Railways to distinguish between the different services offered. Executive Class is available only in Shatabdi Express trains featuring better food, less crowded spaces, and more leg room.
Differences Between Train Classes
What is the difference between 1A and 2A? 1A berths are slightly bigger than those in 2A, but 2A berths are big enough. 1A may be preferable when there are 2 or 4 travelers together and can be assigned to a coupe or cabin, respectively.
There is an option of Coupe and Cabin in berth selection when booking a 1AC ticket. If 2 Pax are traveling, select Coupe, and for 4 Pax, select Cabin.
Vehicle Specifications and Chargers
Maximum weight is 44,000kg for a standard B-train; higher limits apply on some routes under an HPMV permit when the vehicle has 7-10 axles, designated as 50MAX vehicles (50,000kg). B-trains are more stable than those connected using a coupling such as a Ringfeder.
When choosing between a 1A and a 2A charger, a 2A charger provides a faster charging experience, suitable for newer smartphones, while tablets often require a minimum of 2.1 or 2.4A to charge effectively. A 1A charger (5W) is sufficient for devices like GoPros and Bluetooth headsets, but a 2A charger (10W) can charge devices more quickly.
Educational Levels and Fire Safety Ratings
Language Levels Explained from A1 to C2: A1 denotes a complete beginner, while A2 represents elementary understanding. B1 and B2 are intermediate levels, and C1 and C2 are advanced, with C2 being the most advanced.
While both A1 and A2 fire ratings comply with safety standards, A1 is more stringent.
Miscellaneous Differences
A1 and A2 milk are two varieties based on the type of beta-casein they contain.
The difference between SD cards A1 and A2 is in performance, with A2 optimized for apps and offering even faster read and write speeds.
The iPad uses a 10 watt charger, and using a 2A charger rather than a 1A charger results in faster charging.
Language exposure varies between L1 as the native language used more in everyday life and L2 as the second language used less often.
