Facebook Image Policies
Facebook has made changes to image policies. Posting graphic images to celebrate violence breaks Facebook’s terms.
Hunting and Wildlife Conservation
Many cash-strapped African governments allow killing some big game animals for licenses to fund conservation. Hunters pay billions in taxes for wildlife programs.
Concerns and Recommendations
I find opening the paper to see pictures of slaughtered animals disturbing. If printing these pictures is necessary, perhaps limit them to one section during hunting season, so those with objections can avoid them.
Wildlife Preservation
The minister said posting pictures with dead animals misrepresents hunting in Namibia. Hunting is permitted constitutionally for sustainable benefit. Earlier, a deer with its throat cut was found on a train in Bangladesh. It is believed the deer was hit by the train, and then killed by miscreants.
Urban Deer Sightings
A man posted on Facebook, warning of a dead deer in a park. He had not reported it to authorities. An expert said sightings of urban deer in Sheffield are increasingly common.
Deer Photography Tips
Flipping a deer on its stomach can show off size while hiding the belly. Tucking the legs underneath flexes muscles and makes it easier to hold the deer up for pictures. Photo hunt refers to searching for photos.
Posting Hunting Pictures on Social Media
Many African governments allow killing some animals for licenses to fund conservation. Hunters pay taxes for wildlife programs. Photos taken in public can be posted. Photos shared online can be stolen.
