Adding Insurance to Shipping Labels:
Generally, insurance cannot be added after printing a shipping label. If insurance is not added when printing the label, the package likely will not be covered if lost or damaged. The insurance is calculated based on the package’s contents value, weight, and size.
Insurance Options for Different Platforms:
-
Click-N-Ship Service Labels: Available online at www.usps.com/clicknship for Priority Mail and Express Mail labels printed with postage, coverage is available for up to $500 upon payment of applicable fees. Registered Mail service provides coverage up to $25,000.
-
Etsy: When purchasing shipping labels on Etsy, you have the option to add insurance or coverage for your package. Some methods have insurance included. Ensure the insurance purchased covers shipping and order costs.
-
eBay: ShipCover insurance is offered when buying and printing USPS labels on eBay. Most countries’ items can be covered, with some exclusions.
-
Online Shipping of DPD: Your parcel is insured against damage and loss without extra payment.
I can understand wanting to add insurance within 24 hours or making the option more noticeable. Printing through self-service kiosks is much more expensive than through PayPal.
Can I print a label with no insurance and get insured later at the desk?
