Personalizing Chrome’s Appearance
To get started with customizing your Google Chrome browser, follow these steps:
- Open Chrome and click on the "Customize Chrome" link at the bottom right corner.
- Click "More" and then "Settings" at the top right of the browser.
- Under "Appearance," click "Themes," or visit the Chrome Web Store Themes directly.
- Choose from a selection of available themes or reset to the default by clicking "Reset to default theme".
Using and Creating Custom Themes
Using Themes from the Store
- Free themes are available in the Chrome Web Store.
- In the store, you can browse themes, view previews by clicking thumbnails, and click on the themes to add them to Chrome.
Create Your Own Theme
- Sign in to your Google account, navigate to Chrome developer dashboard, and use Theme Creator to customize images and colors.
- Advanced users can code a custom theme with a
manifest.json
file. - Once created, themes can be shared by hosting or submitting to the Chrome Web Store with a verified developer account.
Customizations and Settings
Google Chrome offers several customization options:
- Toggle between light and dark mode by selecting the "System Default" theme.
- Adjust font size, zoom level, and font type to suit your preferences.
- Personalize your Google homepage by signing into your Google Account and clicking "Change background image".
- Click the checkbox next to "Show Home button" to make Chrome open the New Tab page each time you click the Home button.
