Requirements to Teach Driving
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Have a full driving licence (for the type of vehicle they are supervising in – manual or automatic) held for three years.
- Ensure the car is safe.
- Meet eyesight standards.
- Remember it is the driver that’s insured, not the car.
It says: "You must drive with an accompanying driver, who has to be a fully licensed driver with at least four years of experience and a blood alcohol level of less than .05,"
I am G license holder, I got my G1 in Apr 2006, and G2 in Nov 2007, so can I teach my wife from this Nov on?
Practice Techniques
To practice, have her learn clutch control first without worrying about steering or gears. This left foot control is key.
Why Professional Driving School Is Beneficial
Pay for driving school to develop good habits from the start. Driving schools teach necessary skills correctly. Learning from a spouse often leads to conflict. Professional instruction is best.
Building Driving Skills
Spend the first lessons on basics like adjusting the seat and simple manoeuvres in quiet areas without traffic. Slowly build up to longer drives around blocks. Turning corners takes practice; oversteering and understeering are common initial issues. Focus on what the tyres are doing, not just the steering wheel.
Getting smooth takes many hours practicing gears, starts and stops. Driving finesse develops over time through experience.
