Highly trained nurses can perform endoscopy where a gastroenterologist is available and patient is unlikely to require therapy. The nurses had specific training (150 supervised procedures). Patients were selected to exclude interventions other than biopsy. Results were similar for nurses and doctors, accuracy is unknown.
