History of Caravans
A mobile home, known as a caravan, is prefabricated before transport. Caravans, or "Love Shacks," appeared in 1885 when Dr. William Gordon Stables built "The Wanderer" of wood. This first caravan traveled 1400 miles yearly.
Types of Caravans
Classic caravans offer comfort without compromising the outdoor experience. They easily set up and self-contained ones allow stopping anywhere. You can choose from touring, pop-up, 5th wheelers, static, tent trailers, and Airstreams. Their features and lifespan vary based on material.
Caravan Identification
The Caravan and Motorhome Club offers an identification service, appreciating routine checks, also providing theft advice. Most caravan owners want their details checked. While no caravan logbooks exist, this service registers caravans.
Additional Information
Americans also use the word caravan. The first luxury model arrived in 19th century Britain, though earlier horse-drawn versions were basic. The pioneer US 1885 "caravan" moved 1400 miles in its first year.
