Pablum Creation and Ingredients
Pablum was created by Canadian pediatricians in 1931 to prevent rickets and malnutrition. It contains a variety of ingredients such as wheat, oatmeal, cornmeal, bone meal, dried yeast, and alfalfa leaf, fortified with iron.
Pablum Brand Acquisition
In 2005, the Pablum brand was sold to H.J. Heinz Co. The original product is no longer sold, but the name is still used for infant cereals.
Modern Recommendations for Infant Nutrition
Modern guidelines suggest introducing nutrient-rich pureed fruits and vegetables to babies around 4-6 months old. As babies grow, additional foods like lean steak can be introduced with proper preparation.
