Domain forwarding reroutes visitors to a new web location. Use forwarding when you’ve built a website elsewhere or want to connect your domain to social media. Complete forwarding setup to avoid problems. Then test on small scale first to ensure proper functionality.
It takes 24-48 hours for DNS changes from forwarding setup to work everywhere. Check URL after 48 hours. If the website doesn’t show, try again.
Forwarding serves a different purpose than domain parking. Parking reserves an inactive domain until ready to use. Forwarding redirects users from one live domain to another.
Setting up Domain Forwarding with GoDaddy
To forward a GoDaddy domain, select it in Domain Manager. Click "Domain" then enter the site address you want visitors redirected to. Save changes. The domain now forwards successfully.

Permanent redirects tell search engines this is a permanent move to a new site. Temporary redirects don’t. Choose the type meeting your needs.
