Field Size and Regulations
Competitors play on a 150-by-120 foot field, sideline to sideline, which is the NXL regulation size and encourages fast-paced, intense action. The NXL is changing the field size to 45M by 36M with a 3M by 3M grid to match the Millennium series. The maximum legal rate is 8 balls per second for recreational play or 10 to 12 balls per second for tournaments.
Professional Paintball and Players
The National Xball League is the pro paintball circuit division. Teams battle over four days of fast action. In 2011 in California, a professional player was able to make as much as $65,000 a year. Oliver Lang is regarded as the best paintball player ever, with the most wins in pro paintball history. He was the best player on the winningest team ever in pro paintball.
Game Details
Most professional paintball players wear army boots. The game is played very quickly due to the short distances and the symmetrical coverings. Spectators can also get a good view of the field and the game. The NXL was created to successfully celebrate the intensity of tournament paintball and show the thrill of the sport.
