How to Make Prescription Glasses
- First get your eye prescription from an optometrist.
- Buy lenses and frames.
- Put the lenses in the frames.
- Adjust them to fit your face.
- Check you can see clearly through the lenses.
- If not, adjust them.
Homemade Glasses Materials and Process
Making the frames was fairly simple and most of the work was done on the bandsaw. The lenses were epoxyed in and the frames were attached to the sides. They were made this way because hinges from scratch were not available.
Inspect the frame and lenses according to the optometry prescription information.
Prescription Glasses Manufacturing Process
The raw materials like sand, limestone, and potash are melted down in a fiery kiln. This machine looks at the lens and works out the cutting shape based on the prescription axis. The lens is blocked ready for glazing then cut and edged.
Schedule a comprehensive eye exam and communicate any vision concerns or changes to ensure the glasses prescription is accurate and ready for use.
