To open a pesticide shop in India, you need a BSc degree in agriculture with chemistry or physics. Once licensed, purchase pesticide products from distributors if big companies don’t give direct orders initially.
Registration and Licensing
The Indian Pesticides Act 1968 mandates pesticide registration with the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIBRC) before manufacturing or sale. The CIBRC, under the Ministry of Environment & Forests, regulates pesticides. Licenses required:
- Manufacturing License from State Licensing Authority
- Renewable every 5 years
To apply for a Maharashtra pesticide license, submit an application and fee to the Pesticides Board.
For a pest control business, obtain an Operator license from the Structural Pest Control Board with 1 year experience or 15-day NPTI training. Renew the license annually.
Selling Pesticides Online
To sell pesticides online in India, the government amended the Insecticide Act. This allows e-commerce sale of pesticides, increasing market competition and reducing prices.
With IIEC, set up a professional online pesticide store easily. Promote via marketing designs and manage orders/payments efficiently.
List and sell unlimited pesticides for free on your own e-commerce platform. No commissions or platform fees.
Various laws regulate Indian pesticide sales. The Central Insecticide Board under the Environment Ministry formulates guidelines. It licenses manufacturing and sales nationally. States issue licenses for 5-year periods. Submit applications and fees to state Pesticide Boards when applying.
Those with agriculture degrees qualify to sell pesticides. Organic pesticides appeal given environmental/health concerns over chemicals. But all sellers must follow regulations.
