A company can change its registered office address within the same city by passing a Board Resolution and filing address change documents with the Registrar of Companies. The company must have a new address for changing the registered office. If the registered office address is changing within the same city, the change must be reported within 15 days by filing the necessary papers. If the registered office of the firm is to be transferred from one ROC jurisdiction to another, the change should be approved by the Regional Director of the ROC.
A registered office is an official address for receiving all types of correspondence on behalf of the company. As a practice, companies maintain books of accounts at its registered office however it is not mandatory, it may have some other place of business. The registered office also determines the state of incorporation. During incorporation, a company must submit documents such as:
- Property Tax Receipt
- NOC from landlord
- Lease agreement

Form MGT 14 is a form that needs to be filed for registering certain resolutions with the Registrar of Companies.
