Filing Requirements and Fees
In Illinois, companies of different types must file annual reports and are charged as follows:
- Businesses: $75
- LLCs: $75
- LPs: $250
- LLPs: $250
Payments can be made by mail with a check or online with a credit card.
Submission Process
The annual report must include the legal name, agent, addresses, and manager names. Approximately six weeks before the due date, the state sends a notice and form to the registered agent’s address. Filing can be done online or by mail.
Deadlines and Penalties
The deadline to file is before the company’s anniversary month. For instance, if a company was formed on June 15, 2024, they must file by June 1, 2025. If filing is late, there is a penalty of 10% of the tax due per filing, with LLCs paying an additional $100.
To confirm filing, two copies along with a self-addressed envelope should be mailed in; the state will return one copy as confirmation.
