How to Obtain a Windows License
Go to the official Microsoft site to buy a Windows license. Click "Add to Cart" if you want to purchase later. Otherwise, click "Download product key". You’ll get the license key by email. To activate Windows, go to Settings > Activation and enter the product key.

KMS and MAK keys allow multiple activations from one license. To install Windows 10, download the media creation tool to make a bootable USB drive. Boot from the drive to start installing Windows 10.
Windows Licensing and Upgrades
Microsoft stopped selling Windows 10 licenses on January 31, 2023. They now only sell Windows 11. Visit the Microsoft Store to purchase Home or Pro editions. Note that Windows 11 has stringent minimum hardware requirements related to security.
To upgrade Windows 10 to 11, buy a retail Home or Pro license from Microsoft. Either download an ISO or get a USB drive. Activation keys will be emailed. Retail licenses cost $139-$309.
Checking Your Windows License
To check your license, go to Microsoft account devices page. Download the PID checker tool. You can also go to Settings > Activation and click "Check activation status".
