To close your sales tax account, first log into your account and select the option to close it. Follow the prompts to complete the closure. Before closing, make sure all tax returns are filed through the closure date. Then destroy your sales tax permit. Even if you closed your account, auditors can still assess back taxes if any filings are missing. Your responsibility ends once the account is officially closed.
Also inform your withholding tax provider that you are closing your account with your last filing. You may need to file documents to deregister your legal business name when closing up shop.

To close GST account, complete Form RC145. If LLC members vote to dissolve a CA LLC, file certificate of cancellation. To terminate SSM registration, partners sign Notice of Termination Form C.
