Importing Contact List into Thunderbird
Open Thunderbird. Select ‘Tools‘ from the top menu bar. Select ‘Import‘ from the drop-down options. Choose "Text file (LDIF, .csv, .txt)". Locate the CSV file and select it. Click “Open”. Create a new Mailing List. Select contacts from Address Book. Drag selected contacts to the open Mailing List. Export Address Book to CSV file. Import CSV file. Rearrange CSV file to match Thunderbird’s format. Import rearranged CSV file. All contacts added to Address Book. To add Address Book contacts to Mailing List, drag from Address Book to open Mailing List. Release mouse button to drop contacts into Mailing List.
Exporting and Importing Contact Lists
How do I import a contact list into Thunderbird? To import contacts in Thunderbird, go to Tools > Import. The Import dialog will open; choose Address Books and click Next.
I have a contact list on my old computer where I used Microsoft Live Mail. I need to transfer that address list to my new computer where I am using Thunderbird. Click on the Address Book button. When the Address Book window opens, click on Tools. Click on Export. Name the file you are exporting. Select the format you wish to export to.
You can export your spreadsheet to a .csv file, then import it into Thunderbird. In Thunderbird, open the Address Book and click on “Tools” in the menu, then “Import”. Use the menu Tools > Account settings to open the Accounts window. Click on Account actions > Add mail account.
Thunderbird Mailing Lists
Does Thunderbird support mailing lists? Thunderbird supports mailing lists. Open Thunderbird’s Address Book. Select “New List”. Enter list’s name. At this point select desired contacts and add them. Two options exist for sending email using a mailing list. Option one, open Address Book, find desired mailing list, right click it, and select “Write”. Option two, open a new message window, manually enter the mailing list name in “To” field. Send message as desired.
To add contacts already existing in CSV file, use Tools > Import. Select Text file. Locate CSV file and open it. All contacts added. To instead add Address Book contacts to a mailing list, open the desired mailing list in the Address Book. Drag contacts from the Address Book into the open mailing list. Release the mouse button to drop contacts.

First open Thunderbird application. Click Address Book > Tools > Import. In the Import dialog box, choose Address Books and click Next. Thunderbird has a maximum of 60 recipients per email. It is not optimized for bulk emails. To work with a large mailing list, use a specialized bulk email service.
