Effective Golf Practice:
- Never practice to fatigue. A 30-minute session with 40 golf balls can be effective. Use technology to improve faster. Always have a goal. There is a difference between "hitting balls" and practicing. Spend time thinking what to improve. Speed? Accuracy? Choose suitable drills.
Structured Range Sessions:
- A useful method: Use a standard or test shot to start. Diagnose what to work on that day. If you boggle your draw and miss shots, work draws and accuracy. Structure micro drills for that.
Getting the Most Out of Your Range Session:
- Come With an Intention. Any time you show up for scheduled range sessions, ensure that you have an intention.
- On the SkyTrak Practice Range, you will get all the data you need to take charge of your game. From ball speed, side angle, backspin, side spin, launch angle, and a calculated club speed, you will have the same data the pros use to fine-tune their game.
- If you’re serious about your golf, if you’re looking to build consistency, improve tempo, strike those irons purer than you ever have, get that driver technique spot on, then the driving range is going to be a key ally in that journey. We have created a post previously about training aids and which ones can help you improve your game. Now we are going to look at a few tips to help you make the most out of your range session. These are not drills specific to improving a single part of your game, they are simply tips on how best to make the most out of your practice.
- I have a few tips to share that I hope will help readers stay out at the range even if the weather turns foul, and some that will keep you productive so when you can get out to shoot, you’re actually pulling the trigger more. I Learned the Hard Way. Most of the gear mentioned here was purchased to solve a problem I had encountered at the range.
- Just curious, is there a threshold of how many rounds should be fired in a session/range day out of a .308 precision rifle? I got about 100 new cases I need to fire form. 20 additional load work up rounds to shoot, and thinking about picking up another 50ct bag of new brass. Is 150-170 rounds too much to shoot in a session? This would be stretched out over most of an afternoon for sure. Or early morning – early afternoon. Also what is proper rate of fire for just shooting steel etc?
- I get a family pass plus two friends for $65 a year at my local outdoor range, so take advantage when you have a facility like that for that price! Don’t worry about how much time it takes. Go the first couple of times when you’re getting the drill down… I spend an average of 2-3 hours weekly unless we’re having extreme weather or I’m working on something more specific that requires more time.
