Timing for Making Balloon Garland
For best results you can make a balloon garland up to three days before your party. Balloons are best when they are new and glossy looking, so you want to use them within 2-3 days of the party. A balloon garland lasts at least a week, so no need to stress yourself creating it day-of your party; it can totally be prepped days in advance.
Costs and Preparation
A traditional garland made with latex balloons carries a base cost of $10- $12 per foot. For a 10 foot pink balloon garland, use around 64 balloons in varying sizes. A 12 foot garland needs 5 to 7 balloons per foot, so 60 to 84 total balloons. Prices start around $10 per linear foot.
Duration and Storage
A lot of the balloons will stay inflated much longer but they will look the best this way! In general, latex balloons can stay afloat for anywhere from eight to twelve hours before they start to deflate. However, larger balloons will tend to remain afloat for a longer period of time.
To make a garland last, build it 1-2 days before and keep it somewhere cool and dry until using it. Properly inflated latex balloons retain their helium for a few days. Larger balloons tend to float longer too.
