Pure Barre combines ballet-inspired moves and Pilates to sculpt muscles, emphasizing the lower body. It also incorporates cardio for weight loss.
Studio History
The original Pure Barre opened in 2001 in Birmingham, Alabama by founder Carrie Rezabek Dorr. As of 2021, there are over 650 Pure Barre studios across the U.S. and Canada, making it the largest barre studio franchise.
Workout and Results
Barre builds strength while increasing flexibility and can burn up to 300 calories in a 45-minute class. One can attend Pure Barre classes multiple days in a row since it is low-impact. However, it’s best not to overwork the same muscles daily. Compared to yoga, barre aims more to strengthen muscles.
Visible results are expected after 8-10 barre classes when taken 3-4 times weekly, contributing to weight loss and muscle building.
Pricing and Accessibility
Pricing varies by location. Single classes cost from $20 in Kansas City to $36 in New York City. Class packs and unlimited monthly memberships are available.
