The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) prohibits debt collectors from placing repeated or continuous calls with intent to harass.
Calling Frequency Limits
A 2021 amendment directs that collectors are presumed to violate the law if:
- They call more than 7 times in 7 days
- They call within 7 days of a prior debt call
Collectors cannot call more than once a day per debt. The FDCPA usually applies to third-party debt collectors, not original creditors.
Rules clarified that collectors cannot call:
- More than 7 times in 7 days
- Within 7 days of speaking about a debt

You can contact authorities if improperly bothered by collectors. Send an application to Rospotrebnadzor or the Central Bank.
