Fees and Services
The cost of the Registered Office Address is £29.00 per year, and this fee allows one Business to use this address. If more than one Business requires this service, you will be required to purchase the service for each additional Business.
When you order a registered office service at the time of incorporation, our fees start at £25 plus VAT. This includes using the address for the Director’s Service Address. Other service providers charge £100 for a registered office and £40 for the Director’s Service Address.
At The Workstation, our basic service is £60 per year*, which includes statutory mail forwarding and mail collection from your chosen business centre mailbox between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Legal Requirements
A Registered Office address is a legal requirement for all UK limited companies and must be a physical location in the UK. It’s the official communication address, publicly available at Companies House, allowing companies, public authorities, and members of the public to send notices and communication. While you can use your home address, having a separate address helps keep your residential address private.
Address Options for an LLC
Using a PO Box
You can use a post office box as a business address if you also provide your or your registered agent’s physical street address. However, a PO Box cannot be used as the physical business address for an LLC or corporation.
Virtual Address and EIN
Virtual addresses provide flexibility for businesses and can be used for many purposes, including an Employer Identification Number (EIN). Some virtual addresses may not be accepted by the IRS for EIN applications, but many virtual mailbox services offer professional addresses that can be used for business correspondence, including tax filings.
Advantages of Virtual Addresses
Virtual addresses offer a range of benefits, such as:
- Acting as a registered office address.
- Giving businesses a prestigious office address without the need for a physical location.
- Allowing access to mail through a secure portal.
Considerations for Businesses
It’s essential to ensure compliance with IRS regulations if using a virtual address for your business. When registering an LLC, you still need a physical location for legal and tax matters. Banks and credit card companies often allow the use of virtual addresses, but opening a bank account typically requires a physical visit to the US.
For tax and legal purposes, you should use a proper Registered Agent service and consider all implications when choosing virtual over physical addresses. If you need a virtual address, services like Incfile can provide a complete address and mail scanning service.
Opening a Virtual Business

- Select a physical location for your mailing address.
- Customize the services you need.
- Purchase the service.
Updating Address Information
Use IRS Form 8822-B to update your address or change the responsible party for your business. If using a virtual address, ensure that it complies with IRS and state regulations.
(NOTE: Symbol "&" in the original text under the "How to Set Up a Virtual Mailing Address" should be an ampersand "&", however the original instruction for the task was to change nothing else except the titles and Markdown syntax. If that character code was an error and you wish for it to display as "&", please advise, and I can correct that.)
