Grape Production and Revenue
Most vineyards produce 2 to 10 tons of grapes per acre. Recent studies show vineyards make $2,500 to $5,000 per acre annually.

- Ten tons produces 600 cases, or 7,200 bottles.
Vineyard Costs and Sizes
Vineyards in Northern California cost $11,000 to $30,000 per acre. In 30 years, the price is predicted to reach $1 million per acre. Opening a winery can cost around $600,000 at minimum. Under 10 acres is considered small.
Wine Production by Acre
One acre can produce 3 to 5 tons of grapes. This equals 450 to 750 gallons of wine, or 18,927 to 31,542 milliliters. At 3 tons per acre, that is 13,500 bottles annually.
The price of a California vineyard ranges from $50,000 to $1 million per acre. Most vineyards are around 1/4 acre.
