Full-Time Employment and Hours
The ACA designates employees working over 30 hours a week full-time. Employers choose 3- to 12-month periods employees average 30 hours or more. Access to benefits isn’t guaranteed for full-time hours.
By consensus, 30-40 hour work weeks are full-time, below are part-time.
Full-time industrial instruments range 35-40 hours per week, standard 8 (or less) to 12 per day – ordinary hours.
Daylight Saving Time
Daylight saving time moves clocks forward Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 2am to 3am. Annually it starts the second Sunday of March. Called Spring Forward or Summer Time.
Daylight saving ends Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 2am. Clocks move back to 1am. Annually it ends the first Sunday of November. Also Fall Back or switch to Winter Time.
Time Conversions and Definitions
12:30am is the first period starting at midnight (12:00am). Afternoon starts at noon, runs until evening.
10pm is night. Morning is before 12pm.
Federal law establishes time zones and daylight saving time transitions, if observed. Transportation secretary coordinates regions observing zones and daylight time.
A time of day is written hhmm – hh (hours since midnight) and mm (minutes since the last hour).
To convert a 12-hour clock greater than 12 to 12 hours, subtract 12 from hours greater than 12.
Los Angeles is 2 hours behind Central Standard Time. For conference calls, 9am to 4pm Los Angeles accommodates 11am to 6pm Central Standard Time.
Most countries use 24-hour clock, but 12-hour common in Latin America and English-speaking countries. 12-hour clock shows 12:00am at midnight and 12:00pm at noon.
