Macmillan is the smallest Big Five publisher. Macmillan operates eight divisions in the US: Celadon Books, Farrar Straus and Giroux, Flatiron Books, Henry Holt and Company, Macmillan Audio, Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, St. Martin’s Press and Tor/Forge. Macmillan is a division of the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group, a large family-owned German media company. Since 1999, Macmillan has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Holtzbrinck Publishing Group with offices in 41 countries worldwide and operations in more than thirty others.

Penguin Books and Penguin Random House

Penguin Books is now an imprint of the worldwide Penguin Random House, a conglomerate formed in 2013 by its merger with American publisher Random House, a subsidiary of German media conglomerate Bertelsmann. Random House is owned by German media conglomerate Bertelsmann.
