Kirsten Larson — “a pioneer girl of strength and spirit growing up in Minnesota in 1854” — is the latest creation to be retired by American Girl, the doll-making franchise. Kirsten was one of the first three dolls produced by American Girl in 1986.

The Collectible Value

In 1986, Pleasant Company launched with three American Girl historical dolls – Molly, Kirsten, and Samantha. These original dolls are the rarest and most valuable for collectors today. For example, an original 1986 Samantha doll in perfect condition can sell for over $1,850.

With each retired doll special outfits retire too. Discontinued collections, if complete and in great condition, can sell for thousands today. For example, Felicity, Kirsten, and Molly collections range from $3,350 to $11,000 in value.
