Theatre Jobs Overview
Theatre jobs include acting, directing, and design. To be a theatre manager requires a background in theatre and business. Theatre careers beyond acting include directing, stage managing, teaching, marketing, and public relations. Some individuals simultaneously produce, direct, and act.
The Director’s Role
The Director’s job includes tasks like interpreting the script, casting, scheduling rehearsals, and creating prop lists. They work with coaches as needed. A chief executive oversees planning of theatre programs and has responsibility for finances, staff, and the building.
Understanding Theatre
Theatre uses live performers to present an experience before an audience. The three basic elements of theatre are performer, audience, and stage. Theatre is a collaborative performing art form. Opera and musical theatre also use live performance but differ in their execution.
