If you’re excited to hit the waterpark this summer you’re not alone. But what do you do with your phone? The best option is to bring a waterproof case with you. A waterproof case can also hold money and credit cards for more convenience. These waterproof cases can be purchased at places like Walmart and Amazon.
It is always recommended that you do not bring valuables to a waterpark. If the waterpark doesn’t have a locker rental, leave your purse, watch, jewellery and other valuables that you don’t need at home. If there are lockers available it makes sense to rent them. Some people are reluctant to spend money on locker rental, but they’re really quite handy. Renting a locker allows you to bring your lunch and snacks, water, sunblock, phone and change of clothes with you. Any items you want to have with you but you don’t want to lug around the park can go in the locker.
How do I Stay Safe at a Waterpark?
Always make sure there is a lifeguard on duty and paying attention. There should be a lifeguard at the top and the bottom of slides but this may vary from park to park. Make sure your kids are the correct size and weight for the water rides.
Dehydration and heat stroke are common problems at waterparks. Wear a waterproof sunblock and reapply frequently. Follow the directions on the sunblock bottle. Many people either use too little of the product or apply it incorrectly. Drink lots of water. Put shoes, a t-shirt and a hot on whenever you are taking a break from the water. This helps to prevent sunstroke. Take breaks frequently throughout the day to get out of the sun.
This one may seem obvious, but it needs to be said; make sure you can swim. Accidents happen at waterparks because people assume they can swim even if they haven’t done a lot of swimming before. Wave pools can easily become dangerous if you’re not a strong swimmer. Sign your family up for swimming lessons before you commit to going to a waterpark. If you don’t have a pool try to find a local pool that offers swimming lessons.
