Paintball is a sport where you shoot opponents with paint to remove them from the game. Oklahoma D-Day is the world’s largest scenario game of paintball that recreates events of World War II, held at Oklahoma’s D-Day Adventure Park in Wyandotte, Oklahoma every June.
Skirmish Paintball Park describes itself as the “World’s Premier Paintball Facility.” This paintball park is home to over 50 paintball maps, spanning over 700 acres. The 16th edition of the Tippmann challenge has been a tradition at Paintball Mirabel, since 2006, also known for being the "biggest paintball event" in Canada.
Another popular park is Hollywood Sports in California, which has an area of almost 28 acres. You can play paintballs inside replica sets of movies such as Godzilla and Mad Max.
Today, paintball is a multimillion pound industry with a wide range of equipment, game zones, and formats available. It is enjoyed as a competitive sport or for team building events.
Scenario paintball takes the traditional paintball experience to the next level by incorporating immersive gameplay, strategic objectives, and roleplaying elements. Games tend to last hours or days and may include historical re-enactments, futuristic or video game simulations with a large group of players.
The first paintball game was played in a wooded area in Sutton, New Hampshire, in 1981. Two years later, the first commercial paintball field opened in Rochester, New York. Paintball technology and gear advanced at a breakneck pace, with companies like Smart Parts, WDP Angel, Dye, and Planet Eclipse pumping huge funds into developing better equipment year after year.
