Preparing the Cleaning Surface
- The most important thing to do before pressure washing is to spray your house with a combination of mildewcide and detergent. Leave it to soak so dirt comes off faster when pressure washing.
- For concrete, spray with degreaser from 6 inches away and scrub it in with a stiff brush before pressure washing.
- Read product guidelines and select appropriate pre-wash solutions for the cleaning surface.
Preparing for Power Washing
- Before power washing, inspect your house for chipped paint, loose siding, or wood rot to prevent further damage after cleaning.
- Remove debris like leaves, grass clippings, or lawn decorations to prevent projectiles during washing.
- Ensure windows and doors are tightly sealed to avoid water intrusion or damage.
- Prepare for repainting by cleaning to improve paint adhesion.
- Unplug all power cords and protect external sockets to avoid electrocution hazards.
Pressure Washing Process
- Attach your pressure washer to the garden hose and select the nozzle.
- Use a green tip nozzle for a 25-degree spray for general pressure washing.
- Rinse and repeat the process if necessary.
- Dry surfaces completely before sanding or painting.
- To remove water, mold, or mildew stains from concrete, use a hose or pressure washer.
- Professionals recommend power washing one to two times per year to prevent buildup and preserve property value.
