Pub Policies for Children
Children under the age of 15 can be on pub premises between 10:30 am and 9:00 pm. Children under 16 unaccompanied are not allowed between midnight and 5am if the pub is open. Some states may allow minors in a pub until closing time under parental supervision. Check regulations in your area. In most pubs, children cannot sit at the bar where alcohol is served. Pubs can set their own policy on allowing children, as long as it is within their license terms. Under 18s cannot buy or drink alcohol in pubs, except 16/17 year olds can consume beer, wine or cider with a meal if accompanied by an adult.
Children can drink alcohol at home from the age of 5. It is recommended that children should not drink before 18 due to health and social issues. Commercial premises have the right to refuse service to anyone.
