Poster Display Requirements
Generally, federal workplace posters must be displayed or posted in conspicuous places where they are easily visible to all employees and applicants.
Determine Required Posters
You can determine which posters you need by using the U.S. Department of Labor’s FirstStep Poster Advisor tool.
Ensuring Compliance and Updates
The posters need to be up-to-date. Laws change over time, so display the most current versions. The Department of Labor provides free updated notices when laws change.
Where to Display Posters
Posters should go in common areas like break rooms, near time clocks, or bulletin boards. For remote workers, send digital copies. State labor departments also require state-specific posters wherever you have employees.
Required Posters Details
You need both Federal and State labor law posters for each state where you have employees. All the posters you need are provided for free by the federal government and state departments of labor.
Consider Federal Poster Requirements
Many different considerations determine which federal posters you’re required to display, such as your industry, locations, remote employees, and if you have applicants.
California Labor Law Posting
The California Department of Industrial Relations requires California businesses with employees to post labor law posters. Topics include minimum wage, health, safety, and labor laws. Additional city posters may be required based on city laws.
Minimum Wage Update
On January 1, 2023, California’s minimum wage increased to $15.50 per hour.
