Experience at Different Parks
I have visited Shanghai Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland, Universal Studios Singapore (USS) and Universal Studio Japan (USJ). Disneyland brings Disney characters to life with colorfully decorated figures and unique Disney songs creating a happy atmosphere, while Universal Studios has better thrill rides and highlights more modern, mature movie franchises. Universal Studios Hollywood is smaller, which makes it more manageable.
Annual Visitors and Age Appeal
Universal Studios Hollywood welcomes just under 10 million visitors every year, ranking in the top ten American theme parks. For young children, Disneyland is better with rides perfectly suited to their height and interests. However, adults and teens may prefer Universal Studios Hollywood or Disney’s California Adventure.
Park Offerings
Disneyland Resort consists of two theme parks with more combined attractions than Universal Studios Hollywood and provides dining and shopping in addition to the parks. Universal Studios Hollywood is a stand-alone theme park.
Cost of Upgrades
At Universal Studios Hollywood, front of line upgrades cost around $70-$150 in addition to admission, allowing visitors to skip to the front once per ride.
