Image Cropping and Sizing
- Wix has an image size limit. Images larger than the limit are cropped. Wix only allows JPEG, PNG and GIF formats. Unsupported formats are cropped.
- To avoid cropping, resize or reformat your images. Once images are compatible with Wix, you can upload without issues.
- Why are my images blurry on Wix? Images may appear blurry if they are too small. Wix compresses images to improve website loading speed. This can make them appear blurry.
Adjusting and Cropping Images
- Every once in a while, Wix crops my images slightly. The cropping tool isn’t highlighted. This suggests no cropping was done. But the handles have moved. I can fix this by adjusting the handles. But I have to check regularly that this hasn’t happened.
- You can crop images manually or use ratios and shapes. This displays only the part you want. Note: You can’t crop GIFs.
- To crop manually: Click the image. Click the Crop icon. Adjust size and position.
Image Sizing in Different Platforms
- Lightroom cropped my images to match my camera’s 16:9 image ratio setting. Changing the camera setting fixed this.
- WordPress generates 3 thumbnail sizes: small, medium, and large. This optimizes speed. But it can crop images unexpectedly.
- To control cropping, change the "Crop thumbnail" setting. This preserves orientation.
Optimizing Images for Wix
- We recommend images of at least 2560 x 1440 pixels for best Wix quality. Wix optimizes images automatically. So you rarely need to resize before uploading.
